Jörg-Peter Elbers and Achim Autenrieth share insights on optical transport SDN at OFC

Short course will offer an in-depth look at practical applications and the future of software-defined networking within optical transport networks

  • Speakers: Jörg-Peter Elbers, SVP, advanced technology, Adtran; Achim Autenrieth, director, advanced technology, Adtran
  • Topics: Optical transport SDN: architectures, applications and actual implementations
  • When: Sunday, March 24, 8:30 a.m. PT
  • Where: OFC, San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, USA https://www.ofcconference.org/en-us/home/

Software-defined networking (SDN) represents a paradigm shift in how networks are designed, built and managed. However, there are many implementation challenges. Transport SDN (T-SDN) helps address these by leveraging open standards for interoperability, enhancing security, reducing vendor lock-in, and employing distributed and scalable control mechanisms.

In this short course, Jörg-Peter Elbers and Achim Autenrieth will explain how T-SDN can address the problems faced by service providers and enterprises putting SDN solutions in place. They will also demonstrate a T-SDN application using an experimental implementation in conjunction with real equipment.
