With open and disaggregated systems, you can mix and match components from different vendors. But while optical links can be disaggregated to the pluggable level, they still can’t match the density and scale of computing. Additionally, silicon photonics and III-V semiconductors used in optical links remain separate, making it hard to achieve the integration density needed for a wider market in co-packaged optics for consumer, health and civic technologies.
As part of the OFC Open Networking Summit panel, Stephan Neidlinger will explore the challenges of managing and controlling disaggregated optical transport, sharing insights into real-life use cases. Register now for the in-person or virtual event beginning March 5.
