Jim Zou debates new trends in the optical access space with OFC panel
Discussion will cover how optical access solutions are being used in 5G networks as well as new technology trends for 6G
- Speakers: Jim Zou, Adtran; Devin Brinkley, X the Moonshot Factory; Hanne-Stine Hallingby, Telenor; Xiang Liu, Huawei Technologies; Ricky Perry, AT&T Labs; Junwen Zhang, Fudan University
- Topics: Connectivity for beyond 5G: How can wireline and wireless optical access live up to mobile expectations?
- When: Monday, March 6, 10:30 a.m. PST
- Where: OFC 2023, San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, USA
As the 5G revolution begins, optical access technologies are helping enable connectivity between central offices and remote radio units. Looking ahead, academia and industry have already started investigating use cases, technologies and architectures for 6G, for which will require more wireline and wireless optical access to sustain higher throughput and performance demands.
In this presentation, Jim Zou and the panel will examine new technology trends in the optical domain. The discussion will range widely and cover key components for end-to-end system applications, including 50Gbit/s and 100Gbit/s BiDi optics, free-space optical transmission, microwave photonics and WDM-PON.
