FSP 3000 M-Flex™ Series

Leveraging ZR optics in thin transponders

As bandwidth demands grow and the need for efficiency becomes increasingly important, IP over DWDM (IPoDWDM) is gaining traction in point-to-point data center interconnects. Service providers are now looking to extend these benefits across broader infrastructure deployments, but doing so introduces new operational challenges. With ZR/ZR+ coherent pluggable optics directly plugged into routers and switches, IPoDWDM offers clear benefits in terms of cost, power consumption and space savings. However, it also introduces complexity in end-to-end management and a lack of clear IP/optical demarcation. Our FSP 3000 M-Flex™ addresses these issues by leveraging a wide range of coherent optics within a thin optical terminal, bridging the gap between traditional transponder-based DWDM and emerging IPoDWDM models.

Efficient and versatile IP over DWDM solutions

The FSP 3000 M-Flex™ is a universal host for ZR/ZR+ interfaces, featuring streamlined multi-rate client service multiplexing. This innovation significantly reduces cost and energy consumption, while retaining the advantages of traditional transponder-based DWDM, such as IP/optical demarcation and multi-rate service multiplexing. What’s more, the FSP 3000 M-Flex™ stands out for its flexibility and versatility. It accommodates a wide range of OTN and Ethernet client services and supports line speeds from 100Gbit/s to 800Gbit/s. Its versatility includes multiple operating modes, such as three 100Gbit/s transponders, two 400Gbit/s transponders or muxponders, a single 800Gbit/s transponder or muxponder, and a ZR-to-ZR gateway.

Scalable edge to core infrastructure

With its compact design, flexible deployment options, broad support for ZR optics and multiple operating modes, our FSP 3000 M-Flex™ facilitates a broad range of applications – from data center interconnects to carrier optical network infrastructure spanning the edge to the core. Moreover, by decoupling the IP and optical layers, M-Flex™ extends the life of switches and routers, facilitating a fast upgrade path up to 800Gbit/s.
