What is 100ZR?

100ZR coherent pluggable transceivers based on 400ZR technology are not efficient for 100Gbit/s transport at the optical edge as they cannot meet critical cost, size and power demands. With a purpose-built DSP co-developed by ADVA (now part of Adtran) and II-VI (now Coherent Corp.), Adtran’s Coherent 100ZR is the first 100ZR coherent pluggable transceiver with a QSFP28 form factor that is compliant with stringent QSFP28 power specifications (5W). It enables any device with a QSFP28 port to transport 100GbE or OTU4 services over distances stretching up to 120km without and 300km with optical amplification. Moreover, it can be deployed in outdoor locations outside the central office, such as street cabinets.
