As operators look to expand the role of fiber infrastructure beyond communications, distributed acoustic sensing offers new opportunities for monitoring networks and physical environments. A key challenge is enabling sensing capabilities without introducing interference that impacts the performance of co-propagating communication signals.
In this poster presentation, Vishal Chandraprakash Rai will present research investigating polyphase coding for joint communication and acoustic sensing systems. He’ll compare a P4₃ polyphase code with linear frequency-modulated probes and discuss its impact on sensing and communication performance. Attendees will learn how the approach improves crosstalk suppression in sensing while maintaining high-quality optical transmission, enabling more effective sensing without sacrificing network performance.
