Developing reliable machine learning models for optical networks requires diverse and representative telemetry data, yet performance data is typically siloed across vendors, operators and research labs due to security and sovereignty concerns. These silos limit the effectiveness of AI models, reduce their applicability across multi-vendor environments and slow the transition from research into operations-ready deployment.
In this Demo Zone session, Achim Autenrieth and Angela Mitrovska will demonstrate the Optical Testbed Data Space (OTDS), a federated platform designed to enable governed data sharing across optical testbeds without requiring participants to centralize or relinquish control of their data. The live demonstration connects federated testbeds from Fraunhofer HHI, NICT, Trinity College Dublin and Adtran, showing how vendors, operators and research institutions can collaborate on AI model development, digital twin validation and predictive maintenance while maintaining data sovereignty.
