ADTRAN’s NG-PON2 platform enables dense 5G mobile networks with capacity, performance, and reliability HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(August 16, 2017)— ADTRAN, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation open networking solutions, today announced that it has taken the next step in mobilizing Software Defined Access by successfully demonstrating non-service impacting wavelength agility and ultra-low latency with its NG-PON2 solution. These milestones were reached in April in support of ADTRAN’s SD-Access strategy for mobile networks, announced at the 2017 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, making it the first in the world of NG-PON2. ADTRAN’s NG-PON2 wavelength agility delivers the reliability required to support Service Level Agreements (SLA) for the most demanding mission critical applications. Non-service impacting wavelength agility also provides increased network resiliency and real-time elastic capacity, and delivers a mechanism to optimize utilization of available optical wavelengths in the access network. According to a report by CIR, 5G densification promises to be a watershed application for NG-PON2, representing a nearly $1B market opportunity by 2026. This will be driven by NG-PON2’s ability to accelerate the path to 5G due to the scale advantages PON-based fiber networks have over P2P and mmWave Xhaul options. “We expect NG-PON2 shipments to start ramping up in 2019, Read More

  • 08/16/17 - ADTRAN Reshapes the Service Edge with Broadband Subscriber Management Suite +

ADTRAN eliminates the need for legacy BNGs as the software defined network evolves HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(August 16, 2017)—ADTRAN Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation open networking solutions, today announced the Mosaic Broadband Subscriber Management Suite as part of its Software Defined Service Edge (SD-Service Edge) portfolio. ADTRAN’s Mosaic Broadband Subscriber Management Suite leverages software to establish and manage subscriber sessions, serving as the entry point to the access network from the ISP or network provider edge. This software suite addresses the broadband access subscriber management feature sets that have historically been served by large monolithic broadband network gateway (BNG) routers. Eliminating these legacy BNG devices from the network will enable operators reduce upfront capital and ongoing operational costs by an order of magnitude. “ADTRAN’s SD-Service Edge provides multi-terabit connectivity with advanced QoS and real-time session management for tens of thousands of users to address the scale requirements of the most demanding next-generation PON networks,” said Chris Thompson, director of Mosaic software and solutions portfolio for ADTRAN. “The benefit to the service provider is unmatched scale, automation, network simplification and lower operational cost as network operators look to expand the scale and improve the agility of their fiber access networks.” The Read More
  • 08/16/17 - ADTRAN Delivers Disruptive Gigabit-To-The-Basement Solution, Taking Gigabit Services 10x Farther, 5x Faster +

ADTRAN’s G.fast long-reach, construction-less Gigabit-to-the-Basement solution creates unparalleled subscriber access to gigabit broadband services HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(August 16, 2017)—ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation open networking solutions, today announced its new disruptive Gfast deployment model to enable network operators to deliver gigabit speeds as widely as possible throughout their networks. Operators in highly competitive dense urban and urban environments are often challenged in their ability to extend their fiber-based gigabit services because of the time and cost associated with trenching fiber. Typical Fiber to the Distribution Point (FTTdp) or Building (FTTB) solutions extend fiber services by 50 -100m, however with ADTRAN’s new Gigabit-to-the-Basement (GTTB) solution, gigabit services can be extended out to 650m from where the fiber ends. This added distance eliminates construction requirements that can often delay service roll outs, enabling service providers to offer gigabit services in just days or weeks versus months or years. ADTRAN’s GTTB solution overcomes the construction impediments that usually slow down new service introduction. By launching gigabit services from the existing fiber-fed cabinet locations, operators are able to roll out services 2-5 times faster and at a fraction of the cost of traditional FTTdp/B solutions. “Regulatory bodies such as the FCC and Read More

  • 10/18/16 - ADTRAN Doubles G.fast Speed with Dynamic Time Allocation +

New SD-Access innovation acts as bandwidth valve; auto-adjusting upstream and downstream ratios in response to user application behaviour, accelerating Gigabit services LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 18, 2016-- ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ: ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation open networking solutions, today announced the availability of a new capability for G.fast deployments – Dynamic Time Allocation (DTA) – that allows subscribers to maximize the total bandwidth of a G.fast connection by transmitting data upstream or downstream intelligently to provide a fibre to the home (FTTH) user experience. ADTRAN has been demonstrating this innovation to operators globally for low crosstalk G.fast environments, providing operators an alternative to installing Cat 6, Cat5e or fibre optic cable to provide symmetric Gigabit data rates. DTA disrupts the concept of Time Division Duplex (TDD) used by G.fast and other broadband access technologies which, until now, have been based on the “set-and-forget” configuration of uplink and downlink ratios (either symmetric or some degree of asymmetric) at the G.fast distribution point unit (DPU). DTA responds to user activity in the order of milliseconds, equipping the user with full stream broadband performance while giving the perception of a full capacity symmetric broadband experience. This approach achieves up to double the speed of an equivalent Read More
