TDM DS1 Service DeliveryTotal Access 5000 System provides support for the migration of legacy PPP services onto an Ethernet core using the Total Access 5000 platform. This provides customers the continued flexibility of delivering access services over T1 leased lines but at a much lower operational cost. This lower operational cost comes from removing the need to transport access T1s all the way through the network. This is achieved by co-locating a Total Access 5000 within the remote central office or associated co-location cage. Total Access 5000 then allows service providers to immediately aggregate legacy PPP services onto their scalable and cost efficient Ethernet core. Future system releases will provide the additional ability to migrate legacy MLPPP, IMA, and Frame Relay support via multi-service cards. To facilitate this transition, a (3) port channelized DS3 Multiservice module will be available that will provide 84 T1’s per module. This module is used as a cost-effective interface between the existing TDM DCS and the Total Access 5000.
