The NetVanta 3000 Series of access routers from ADTRAN offers the most cost-effective way to connect branch offices using point-to-point circuits. In this application, a NetVanta 3205 IP access router at the host site provides a point-to-point T1 network connection to a NetVanta 3200 at the remote site. This application requires a T1/ FT1+DSX-1 Network Interface Module (NIM) at each location to carry digital voice and data. The DSX-1 interface is used to drop-off digital voice to a local PBX.
As the diagram indicates, the corporate site houses a NetVanta 3205 connecting a full T1 to a public TDM network. This connection requires a T1/FT1 with DSX-1 NIM to carry digital voice and data. At the branch office, an additional T1 is needed to carry both digital voice and data traffic. This requires a NetVanta 3200 equipped with a T1/FT1 with DSX-1 NIM to terminate the T1 and the DSX-1 interface is used to drop-off the digital voice to a local PBX.
