Chassis hosts OMM modules to terminate OC-3, OC-12, or OC-48 fiber circuits, and tributary modules to deliver DS-3, EC-1, DS-1, OC-3, OC-12, or 10/100/1000 Ethernet services

The following features are supported on the MX chassis:

19-inch or 23-inch rack-mountable
Dimensions: 3.5 inches (2U) H × 12 inches D × 17.5 inches W
Requires one System Controller Module (SCM, P/N 1184500L1)
Accomodates two optical multiplexer (OMM) modules in high-speed (HS) slots, and 12 tributary modules in mid-speed (MS) slots
Rear-panel champ connectors for 84 DS-1 circuits
Rear-panel BNC connectors for 12 DS-3 or EC-1 (STS-1) circuits
Rear-panel wire wrap pins: RS-485 bus, alarms, fans, and BITS clock
Rear-panel RJ-45 Ethernet management interface
Rear-panel DB-25 X.25/ADMIN port interface
Front-access connections to Ethernet tributary modules
Front-access fiber connections to OMM modules
Front-access fiber connections to OC-3/12 tributary modules
Optional convection or forced cooling with:
  - Fan Assembly (FANM; P/N 1184507L1)
  - Enhanced Fan Assembly (EFANM; P/N 1184507L2)
  - High-Capacity Fan Assembly (HFANM; P/N 1184537L1)
