Networks and communications are now more important than ever in government agencies. You need innovative internetworking technologies that enable powerful new communications capabilities to reach citizens, field offices, agencies, and the warfighter.
ADTRAN offers a complete line of high-quality networking solutions to help Federal Government agencies and systems integrators respond to the heightened focus on effective communications and the security of vital voice, data, and video communications networks. Using ADTRAN solutions, agencies and their integrators can successfully upgrade and expand the functionality of public and private communication networks, and plan for rapid restoration of communications in the event of natural or man-made disasters. An ADTRAN-based solution is one you can count on to improve performance and operations, reduce costs and, ultimately, improve public service.
ADTRAN equipment has been selected by many Federal Agencies, and is widely deployed by major service providers and public and private enterprises worldwide. The company’s commitment to high-quality product development results in innovative, cost-effective solutions for voice, data, video, and Internet projects.
ADTRAN offers several key technologies and solutions for government networks, including:
Videoconferencing
To address an increasing need for remote conferencing, distance learning and collaboration, ADTRAN offers the ATLAS Video Switch and ISU 512 Inverse Mux as industry leading solutions for networking videoconferencing systems. The ATLAS Video Switch enables multiple videoconferencing systems to share WAN access and bandwidth which reduces the need for dedicated circuits and lowers communications costs. ATLAS Video Switch is ideal for government videoconferences that prefer ISDN switched services, since ATLAS provides dynamic call-by-call switching over PRI and BRI, and offers a diverse and industry-standard set of interfaces for video equipment. The ATLAS Video Switch also provides PRI to BRI conversion, so users can deliver multiple BRIs from a single PRI. Many government agencies can use the ATLAS Video Switch along with encryption devices to create a highly secured, high-performance videoconferencing network. ADTRAN's ISU 512 is the industry's leading Inverse Mux for terminating up to four (4) BRI lines.
JITC Certification
The ADTRAN ATLAS 550 and ISU 512 have been certified by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) and has met requirements for the Defense Switched Network (DSN) and is certified for use in the Defense Information System Network (DISN) for ISDN PRI and BRI Video Teleconferencing and Distance Learning Programs. Fiber Optics
If you are looking to take advantage of high bandwidth and other benefits of fiber networking, ADTRAN offers a wide range of cost-effective optical products. The ADTRAN series of optical eqiupment is ideal for point-to-point fiber connectivity or interconnecting buildings on a campus or military base. The new ADTRAN OPTI-6100 overcomes many size and cost issues associated with traditional optical equipment and offers a high density, small, economical fiber multiplexer that supports OC-3/OC-12 SONET with support for DS1, DS3/EC-1, and Ethernet. ADTRAN also offers the OCU and OSU product lines for extending high speed voice, data, video over point-to-point fiber as well as converting copper to fiber.
IP Routing
Internetworking multiple wide and local area networks within the Federal Government is an ongoing, top-priority mission to ensure data sharing among departments and agencies. ADTRAN now offers a complete line of IP access routers that support LAN and WAN connectivity for Internet, public and private Frame Relay, and leased line networks. These full-featured, low-cost access routers include an integral DSU/CSU, a stateful inspection firewall, optional DSX port for PBX connectivity and dial backup options, and a familiar command line interface.
Internet Security
Securing Internet access has become a critical project for many Federal Agencies. ADTRAN offers a series of VPN/Firewall products ranging from small, economical remote teleworker devices to large central site solutions.
Ethernet Switching
The NetVanta 1000 Series of managed Ethernet switches is a full-featured product line suitable for use in Local Area Networks requiring LAN interconnectivity or network segmentation, including Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet applications. The NetVanta 1000 Series uses the ADTRAN Operating System (OS) pre-installed Standard Feature Pack firmware to provide non-blocking Layer 2 switching functionality, support for Virtual LANs (VLANs), advanced management, and Quality of Service (QoS) capability. This series includes the NetVanta 1224R Layer 2 switch with integral router and WAN interface, 1224STR Layer 2 switch with integral router, WAN interface, and Gigabit uplink, 1224 Layer 2 switch, and 1224ST Layer 2 switch with dual Gigabit uplinks.
Integrated Access
Today’s wide area network typically consists of multiple circuits to handle various traffic types, complicated by the presence of varying service and pricing options between geographic regions.
ATLAS is a multiservice, modular platform that accommodates multiple protocols and interfaces, collapsing multiple parallel networks into a more streamlined and less expensive topology. ATLAS consolidates voice, fax, modem, video, local area network (LAN), and legacy data traffic over a single wide area link, reducing overall telecommunication expenses.
T1 Connectivity
T1 and ISDN PRI are the most popular technologies used today to access the public switched network or connect a private network. ADTRAN offers a wide range of T1/PRI connectivity solutions suitable for use by any Federal Agency or Systems Integrator to connect PBX/Key Systems or LANs to the wide area circuit. In fact, many ADTRAN T1 solutions enable users to share the T1 bandwidth between voice and data, reducing overall costs and improving bandwidth efficiency
Wireless
Whether it’s connecting buildings within a community or campus, or trying to overcome obstacles associated with copper-based lines, license-free microwave communication systems offer a fast and affordable alternative for voice and data communications. ADTRAN offers a series of market leading T1, multiple T1, and DS3 point-to-point, license-free wireless solutions.
ADTRAN wireless solutions are currently in use in many government applications, including a Forestry Service project to transmit voice/data across vast areas of national park land where land lines do not exist. Law enforcement agencies incorporate ADTRAN wireless products into backbone wireless infrastructures, eliminating monthly circuit costs for land lines. Agencies and departments that require connectivity within the Washington, D.C. area can quickly establish temporary or emergency communications, without the delays and costs of copper circuits.
