Digital Loop Carriers (DLCs) have been a widely accepted solution among carriers for consolidating copper lines close to customer origin. Of course, POTS remains the primary telephone service requested by customers. Getting it to customers and back has been the major focus for DLCs. However, density is the primary concern for carriers who look to squeeze more into an existing DLC. ADTRAN has attacked that problem head-on with a DLC unit that is up to four times as dense as a traditional DLC. That reduces space, saves cost, and helps deliver those revenue-generating special services.
