Asynchronous Transport Mode (ATM) remains one of the leading transport technologies througout networks. Its primary advantage over other technologies is the ability to create a transport "contract" specifying quality of service for customers.
ADTRAN's primiary products that address ATM are the Total Access 3000 Broadband Access Platform and its sister platform, the Total Access 3000 DSLAM. Each product provides ATM network capability using either an OC-3 or a DS3 backbone.
The Total Access 3000 DSLAM offers a unique method to map voice DS0 circuits to a T1 Virtual Circuit. The unit's Voice Cell Processor maps 24 individual DS0s back to the DS3 ATM Cell Switch Mux and ultimately to the ATM network.
